KWARAPOLY, KWEPA synergies on clean environment

The Kwara State Polytechnic and Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) have resolved to ensure a clean environment conducive to learning in the institution.

The Rector, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed dropped this hint during a courtesy call on the Management by KWEPA.

According to him, it is very important to ensure that students maintain a clean environment conducive to learning.

He then appealed to the Agency to assist in addressing the challenges of erosion and fumigation among others.

In his remarks, the General Manager of KWEPA, Alh. Saad Dan-Musa expressed appreciation for the warm reception.

He said Kwara Poly and KWEPA were partners in progress for the fact that they are both trying to maintain a clean environment to forestall outbreaks of disease and epidemics.

While congratulating the Rector on his recent conferment of Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers, he advised the Rector to take the new achievement as another opportunity to add values to Kwara State as a whole.

The KWEPA General Manager, also reeled out certain requirements for the certification of the environmental officers in any organization. These includes Certificate of registration with the Kwara State Ministry of Health, Certificate of registration with Corporate Affairs Commission and evidence of regular tax payment with Kwara State Internal Revenue Service. While pledging to uphold the tenets of the agency, he said it had resolved to tackle all environmental challenges such as open defecation, indiscriminate disposal of refuse, siting of gas plants and petroleum filling stations in residential areas, among other environmental challenges in the state.
